An announcement made by Google with regards to their withdrawal of support from American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) due to the council's position (or lack of) on climate change has spread several months ago. This encouraged several other companies to follow their lead, including Facebook.

It's no secret that both Facebook and Google are the two powerhouse and leading tech giants today. And situations similar to above have become a norm for these giants in the tech world. The competition is fierce than ever as the number of monthly users reached by Facebook has increased to 1.4 Billion in the third quarter of 2014. Additionally, Facebook remains to be the leading social media platform outwitting all other platforms.

The services offered by both Google and Facebook have clashed too many times. The first attempt by Google to launch its own Social Media services gave birth to Google + and it is a direct confrontation with Facebook. The next battlefield between this two giant would be on the online office suites services with Facebook announcing Facebook for Work. They are ready to trample their competitions which will be a battle against Microsoft's Office 365 and Google Apps for Business.

The developers at Google have a knock with choosing their battles and often times they do win. Their effective marketing strategy when they first introduced Gmail was flawless and has won them the battle against the two of the giants in email delivery industry of that time; Yahoo mail and Microsoft's Hotmail. With Google's constant improvement, easy to use applications and after adding cloud services for free, their competitions were no match at all and Google and Gmail emerged victorious; making it the leading email delivery service provider today

Facebook has seen the potential in launching its very own office suite and is trying to make a mark in the cloud industry. With a much wider user base, a baseline platform to follow, and a proven marketing strategy to take note of, they are well prepared in their new venture. Facebook has also announced that the new Facebook for work is beta stage exclusive, escalating the public's interest even more.

Only time can tell if Facebook for Work can outwit their competition. Facebook maybe a little too late with two industry giants (Microsoft & Google) already fighting a fierce battle in dominating the cloud industry with their office suite. Nevertheless, Facebook has proven itself as a leader in the business to business solutions. Their new venture in the cloud maybe a challenge, but it can offer variety to cloud services.

Use several different search engines

Whether using the major or independent search engines, each one is programmed with a different algorithm which means the end results will vary. If you aren't able to find relevant information using one search engine, it might benefit to move onto another one to see if you are able to get the more desirable results. Plus, the type of information being searched can have an impact on the type of search engine used. Some of the popular options include all-purpose, people, visual, job, etc.

Enter specific terms or phrases

To increase the chance of getting the right results back, use specific terms that relate to the topic being researched. Add in words like how to, benefits, tips, location, etc. to reduce the pages returned and improve the chance of getting the desired information on the first page.

Improve the search using the minus operator

Make all your articles work hard

Obvious things like writing articles can be improved by keywords in the title, the first line and sprinkled throughout the copy sparingly, making sure it is written for people not search engines and flows easily. The book is packed full of traffic tips 166 pages full of ideas, with individual chapters explaining how to set them up.

Some traffic tips were quick to implement others you may leave till later but even if you used two a week think of the difference a year would make. Maybe that sounds a long time but in the life of your business it's like a blink of an eye. Plus if you have time you can work them much faster. That is the beauty of an online business you can grow it at your own pace. Here are a couple of ideas from the book that appeal to me:

Classified Advertisements

Do a Google search for free classified advertisers: Make your advertisement stand out and look more appealing than all the others; promote a specific item or page on your website, if you direct visitors to a squeeze page you also have their email address for future offers and the ability to follow-up with your auto-responder.

Use the power or multiplication

If you post a great ad on one site and get 100 visitors.If you post the same great ad on 10 sites you could get 1000 visitors. Take the time to do every thing to a high standard; you can then duplicate your efforts.

Don't just do things once repeat and repeat what works for you.

Email Signatures

Place these, not only in your auto-responder emails but at the bottom of every personal email you ever send. You can always delete it on an individual email if inappropriate. Make a neat signature with your website URL, your slogan, a tiny picture logo or description and finish all your emails with it. This will make you take your business seriously and will broadcast to everyone what your business is about. You never know who might be interested in what you have to offer. If you have trouble setting a signature up Google "how to set up email signatures" naming your specific provider e.g. BT, Gmail etc.

These are just two examples, you have another 97 to try from the book it wasn't particularly expensive and you should find it on Amazon. I'm sure there are many others, some of these I'll tell you about another time. If you choose the traffic tips that resonate with you at the moment, set yourself a target of how many you will implement every week, and watch your visitors grow. By monitoring the results you can see which traffic tips work best for your website.

Test and monitor your results

Make sure you use Google analytics to monitor what is working for you and insert the piece of code into every website page and follow your visitors viewing habits.

Because programs change so often, it's a good idea to check these sites often to find out what programs are currently available. If you think you qualify for any of their programs, then you want to apply.

For those who are interested in starting a business, especially online, there are certain steps you need to take to build your business so you succeed. Follow these five steps to improve your chances of success.

1. Create the right foundation.

This is probably the hardest part of building a business no matter whether you go the brick and mortar route or online. That's because there are so many one time tasks that need to be completed, like investing in legal compliance (licenses), choosing a bank account and getting the right accounting software to help you keep track of the funds your business is earning.

In this day and age almost every business, regardless of size, has a website to help inform customers and differentiate them in the marketplace. However, among the millions of websites out there, they can broadly be broken down into three primary categories of site; e-commerce, information & converting.

The e-commerce sites speak for themselves and are built with the specific purpose of selling physical goods to consumers through large, searchable databases of products. However, the differences between the other two; information and converting, is less clear.

The key differentiator between them is what their purpose is and how they fit into your marketing plan. This in turn is deeply impacted by your customers' (or even industry's) buying habits.

Information websites: As the name suggests, the purpose of these sites is to give information to a prospect.

This is typically taken to the extreme in the sense that these sites are typically most appropriate for either products/services with a high degree of complexity (e.g. production machinery), industries that typically won't have decisions made on the basis of information alone and will need to be supported by a second process (e.g. a test drive in the case of a car purchase, or a viewing for real estate).

In these cases, the sale is almost never made prior to this additional process and so the purpose of the site is to help the prospect become as informed as possible about what they are looking for to aid in the later stages of the purchase.

It's very common to find brochures/information packs to download on the website (again, giving lots of detail to help the consumer make a decision).

Converting websites: By contrast, a converting website is likely to be very short on information because the purpose behind the site is to 'convert' a prospect from a visitor to an interested potential customer.
This is done via a call-to-action.

A call-to-action could be as simple as an enquiry form or quote request, or as complex as a limited function or free trial of the product. However, in recent years, the most common has been to offer a free gift (e.g. an e-book giving valuable information about whatever the subject of the site is) in return for your contact and email details.

1 - Build your list.

This is absolutely the most crucial. It is fundamental to your online business. Using e-books, free reports, free gifts, free downloads, etc. you must have a list. Your list is your ultimate tool for online success. Be creative here. Offer coupons, discounts, special promos, whatever is necessary to build your list. Remember, you have to provide great value in exchange for an email address.

2 - Create a Newsletter.

You must stay in touch with your website visitors. Whatever niche you are in, provide something of 'value' to your subscribers. It's imperative to stay in touch.

3 - Build you own website.

HTTP cookies, sometimes called browser cookies or web cookies, are a widely-used tracking device for internet analytics. They consist of coded data used to identify unique visitors and his or her number of visits to a webpage. However, while most cookies serve the same purpose, they do not necessarily have the same functionality. Even more, their utility may very well become obsolete in the next few years.

Cookie Types

The following cookie types vary by location and lifespan. Their capabilities make them more useful in specific marketing and research scenarios.

Transient (Session)

Transient cookies, commonly referred to as session, group cookies in a single visit for analysis. They are set when the visit starts a session on a website and ends as soon as the user leaves the page. Sessions store data in the temporary memory of a computer in the form of a session identification code. This code will track clicks, browsing behavior, length of visit and sales conversions.

Persistent (User)

Persistent or user cookies, have a lifespan predetermined by the website host. The tracking code is stored on a user's hard drive during their first visit and remains active until deleted or expiration, regardless of other sites the user may browse. User cookies conveniently remember website preferences including email addresses, passwords and language.

First Party vs Third Party

A first party is set directly by a web analytics tool through a domain. Many popular websites including Gmail, Yahoo! and Facebook require that a visitor enables first party cookies to use their site. A third party is set on the domain of the web analytics host rather than the actual site being visited. Third parties are most prevalent in cases where a web analytics host wants to track a user's behavior for marketing purposes.

Third parties are less common than first parties because they're often deleted or rejected. Anti-spamware and malware programs flag them as a threat and auto-delete them in most cases. Thus, first parties are considered more effective; however, they do not have the ability to track history on other sites and therefore cannot be used in cases of ad retargeting as third parties can.

Flash

Widely known as local shared objects, flash cookies function through Adobe Flash, a software installed on most computers. Flash cookies are growing in popularity because they cannot be deleted or disabled as easily as typical HTTP ones. They have the same tracking capabilities as a third party but also a lower deletion rate, making them more effective.

What's Next

Although cookies are highly capable and serve as the primary tracking tool for many, innovations and issues in online tracking technology point to the emergence of new strategies. Do Not Track, an initiative to minimize the violation of privacy that cookies can pose, could become standardized policy in the near future. As a result, Google has made it well-known that they are looking into alternate tools for behavioral research devices that don't infringe upon a user's right to privacy. In coming years, advertisers and website hosts will have no choice but to design new analytical devices that bypass the road blocks meant to mitigate the effectiveness of cookies.

Jeśli chcesz dowiedzieć się jak pisać bloga, to musisz zrozumieć swoich klientów i tworzyć treści, które będą dla nich przydatne i wciągające. Zajmuje to dużo czasu, aby zrobić to dobrze i trafić do odpowiedniej grupy docelowej. Musisz być gotowy popełniać błędy i wyciągać z nich konkretne wnioski.

1. Traf napisaną treścią na blogu do odpowiedniej grupy docelowej
Skoncentruj się na konkretnej grupie odbiorców. Nie kieruj swojego bloga do wszystkich. Jeśli Twoim odbiorcom są np. przedsiębiorcy określ wielkość ich firmy, liczbę zatrudnionych osób, obrót, branże, zasięg działania. W przypadku osoby fizycznej możesz określić jej wiek, status zawodowy, miejsce zamieszkania, płeć, czy ma dzieci.

2. Dowiedz się, gdzie spędzają najwięcej czasu online Twoi potencjalni klienci
Wypisz listę miejsc, gdzie możesz ich znaleźć, czyli  fora tematyczne, odpowiednie grupy na portalach społecznościowych. Stań się detektywem i obserwuj, co piszą i czym się interesują.

3. Zrozum ich problemy
Przed napisaniem każdego wpisu na blogu powinieneś wejść w buty klienta. Śledząc fora tematyczne i portale społecznościowe wiesz już, jakich informacji szukają. Dzięki temu będziesz wiedział, jakich produktów oraz usług im dostarczyć. Stwórz listę najczęściej pojawiających się problemów i określ względem nich priorytetowe działania.

4. Pomyśl jak możesz pomóc tym ludziom
Jakie antidotum może dać Twoja firma na rozwiązanie ich problemów. Z listy problemów wybierz te, które jesteś w stanie rozwiązać. Sporządź listę pomysłów wokół każdego problemu, które będziesz mógł wykorzystać w późniejszym czasie. Zadaj sobie pytanie, co sobą reprezentujesz i dlaczego ludzie powinni podążać za Tobą. Jakie jest Twoje główne przesłanie, które będzie przyciągać potencjalnych klientów. Dodaj podstronę „o mnie”  na twoim blogu i daj się poznać ludziom.

5. Podejrzyj konkurencje
Weź pod uwagę to, co twoja konkurencja publikuje na blogu, wokół jakich tematów się obraca. Zidentyfikuj tematy, kategorie na ich blogach, zobacz, jakie posty były najbardziej popularne i oceń dlaczego. Nie kopiuj wszystkiego „słowo w słowo”, przemyśl, w jaki sposób możesz to zrobić lepiej od nich.

6. Cele, jakie chcesz osiągnąć dzięki blogowaniu
Określ wymierne cele, jakie chcesz osiągnąć dzięki blogowaniu, jakie korzyści chcesz przekazać swoim odbiorcom. Użyj metody SMART do określenia celów (konkretne, mierzalne, osiągalne, realistyczne i określone w czasie). Stwórz arkusz kalkulacyjny i zaplanuj swoje cele przez tydzień miesiąc, a następnie weryfikuj swoje wyniki.
Przykładowo moim obecnym cele jest publikowanie od 8 do 10 artykułów w miesiącu na temat blogowanie, konfiguracji wtyczek i szablonów wordpress. Chce budować w ten sposób moją publiczność, której po nawiązaniu relacji zamierzam sprzedawać produkty informacyjne związane z ich problemami, a  także dać możliwość zarobienia pieniędzy w programach partnerskich.

7. Opracowanie strategii i taktyki
Zaplanuj strategie, która będzie pracowała dla Ciebie, dopasuj treść bloga do planu marketingowego. Jakie są kluczowe działania i zasoby niezbędne do osiągnięcia Twoich celów. Jakie zadania masz zamiar codziennie zaplanować.

8. Zbuduj Twojego bloga
Stwórz bloga, który będzie budował twój wizerunek oraz spraw, aby poruszanie się po nim było intuicyjne dla Twoich czytelników. Wybierz chwytliwy tytuł dla Twoje bloga. Upewnij się, aby wybrać temat, którego ludzie poszukują. Zadbaj o styl i cechy konstrukcyjne, które pomogą Ci się wyróżnić. Do blogowania możesz wybrać jedną z platform CMS taką jak WordPress, Drupal czy Joomla.

Aby to osiągnąć musisz zastosować tak zwane ZLW. Spraw, aby klient Ci zaufał, polubił Cię oraz wierzył w to, co robisz. Wszystkie te wartości możesz oczywiście zmierzyć. „Znać”, to zasięg, do ilu osób docierają Twoje “komunikaty”? „Lubić”, to reakcje na Twoje akcje marketingowe, na przykład komentowanie na blogu, wypełnianie Twoich formularzy i ankiet. „Wierzyć Ci”, to ile osób kupuje, czyli poprawnie reaguje na Twoje obietnice.
Aby osiągnąć te cele musisz zamieszczać na swoich blogu wartościową treść, która rozwiąże w szybki sposób problemy Twoich czytelników. Jeżeli będą chcieli wejść na wyższy poziom zaproponuj im jakiś płatny produkt. Mieć schludnego, zadbanego bloga to zdecydowanie za mało. Pamiętaj o trackingu, czyli o śledzeniu twoich wyników, dzięki temu zmierzysz twoją wydajność.

10. Połącz bloga z sieciami społecznościowymi oraz dodaj na nim formularz zapisu
Połącz bloga z sieciami społecznościowymi, aby w łatwy sposób udostępniać treści. Stwórz również formularz zapisu do budowania listy adresowej.

11. Rozwijaj kalendarz redakcyjny
To prawdopodobnie jeden z najważniejszych kroków. Kalendarz redakcyjny pomoże Ci skoncentrować się i dać Ci dobry harmonogram pracy. Spraw, aby kategorie na Twoim blogu były zróżnicowane i interesujące dla Twoich czytelników.

Napisz o gratisach i kuponach, jakie można znaleźć w internecie na temat produktów i usług dotyczące niszy, w której publikujesz.

Napisz post na temat popularnych cytatów lub powiedzeń. Możesz się zgodzić lub nie zgodzić z danym cytatem. Podaj kilka przykładów i opowieści o tym, że jest to prawda lub nieprawda.
- Czytaj blogi w innych niszach
Zacznij studiować blogi w innych niszach w ten sposób uzyskasz kolejne źródło inspiracji.
- Odejdź od biurka
Odwiedzić park, kino lub wybierz się na spacer. Opuść swoje centrum dowodzenia i zaczerpnij trochę świeżego powietrza. Obserwując otoczenie, w Twojej głowie zaczną kiełkować nowe pomysły.
- Odpowiadaj na ogólną krytykę w twojej branży
Być może program informacyjny pokazał twoją branżę w złym świetle. Przedstaw Twoje zdanie na ten temat na blogu. Pokazujesz w ten sposób Twoje zaangażowanie.

Przejrzyj na takich portalach artykuły powiązane z niszą, w której chcesz stać się ekspertem. Sposobem na dowiedzenie się czy artykuły te są wartościowe jest sprawdzenie stopnia moderacji portalu. Sam kiedyś publikowałem artykuły na takich stronach i muszę stwierdzić, że moderatorzy bardzo starannie podchodzili do oceny poprawności artykułu pod kątem gramatyki i interpunkcji. Przykładem takich portali w Polsce może być  Artelis czy Albercik.

Stwórz konkurs, który będzie zachęcać do udziału Twojego czytelnika. Możesz utworzyć również kilka wpisów na blogu na jego temat.
 - Interaktywne gry
Zamiast standardowego pisemnego postu daj Twoim czytelnikom interaktywną grę do przetestowania, która pomoże im w nauce i rozwoju. Przykładem może być nbpportal.pl, który oferuje czytelnikom różnego rodzaju gry interaktywne z zakresu finansów osobistych i inwestycji.
- Zapowiedź nowych produktów i ogłoszenia
Zapowiedzi nowych produktów i usług, zarówno Twoich, jak i innych ludzi w branży. Stań się spekulantem i napisz, jaką nową jakość wniesie ten produkt czy usługa na rynek. Stwórz ogłoszenia dotyczące nadchodzących wydarzeń związanych z Twoim blogiem i biznesem.

Zrób listę przydatnych zasobów i łącza do innych stron internetowych, które mogą przydać się Twoim czytelnikom. Taki post może być regularnie aktualizowany, jeżeli pojawią się jakieś nowe informacje.

Stwórz top listę 10 lub 100  zasobów i pomysłów. Wykaż, że są niezwykle popularne i podziel się nimi również w social media. Artykuł, który właśnie czytasz też należy do tego typu postów.

Stwórz listę raz na tydzień/miesiąc stron z linkami, które zawierają informacje na temat, co nowego wydarzyło się w Twojej branży.

Studium przypadku osoby, która z powodzeniem stosowała metodę udostępnioną w twoim poście.
F. Lista użytecznych wskazówek i porad
Porady/wskazówki typu jak z punktu A dojść do punktu B. Pomyśl o problemach i wyzwaniach, które napotykają Twoi czytelnicy i napisz o tym post.

Porównaniu możesz poddać wiadomości, produkty, usługi lub inne pomysły w Twojej branży.

When you hear the word HABIT does a negative connotation come to mind? For most people YES. How about for you? The future of your internet business will depend on your day to day habits. Are your treating your business like a business? or more like a hobby?

So, how do you define HABIT? A dear friend of mine recently sent me an excerpt that is the best description of habit that I have ever heard. It goes like this.

I am your greatest burden or your greatest asset because I am your constant companion. I will push you forward or drag you down.

I am completely at your command. Half the things you do you may as well just turn over to me and I will do them quickly and quietly.

I am easily managed with firm direction. Show me exactly what you want done, and I will do them automatically without you having to think about it

I am your servant and the servant of all great men and women. Those who are great, I have made great. Those who are failures, I have made failures.

That excerpt made a huge difference on me and my internet business. You see, the tendency for most internet marketers, especially if your part-time, is that the business will take care of itself when it takes care of itself. Well I beg to differ.

Your internet business will take care of nothing. You are your internet business. So let me ask you, "Are your habits moving you and your business closer to where you want to be or farther away? I believe you are only going in one of two directions, forward or backward.

If you are not yet full-time in your business and work a 9 to 5 job elsewhere, how much time daily do you spend on your business? I'm not here to judge anyone. I hope everyone is successful in whatever they pursue. However, below is a great example of a new positive daily routine anyone can use to further their daily business.

Spend the first 30 minutes of your morning each day to further your business. Examples include:

1 - Write an article, submit that article to article directories with your business link.

2 - Add one message per day to your autoresponder list.

3 - Update your email signature file.

4 - Submit an email ad to 5 mailers promoting your business by offering free downloads, free software, etc. and building your list.

5 - Be organized and when you reach your 30 minute timeline, stop.

You should be able to complete those daily tasks within 30 minutes. It may take a short while to get that timeline to 30 minutes, but eventually if will be automatic and part of your normal daily routine.
